Fee Waiver
The Common Application fee waiver is available for any applicant who meets any of the following circumstances:
- Has received or is eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver
- Enrollment or eligibility for the federal Free and Reduced-Price Lunch (FRPL) program
- Participation in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., TRIO programs such as Upward Bound)
- Residing in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or is homeless
- Being a ward of the state or an orphan
- Family income falling within the income eligibility guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service
- Family receiving public assistance
- Situations not listed above- Having a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader that the application fee poses a burden
William & Mary Specific Fee Waiver
Beyond the Common Application fee waiver, we have institution-specific waivers for the following individuals on the William & Mary Common App Supplement:
- Students identifying as a first-generation college student (neither parent completed a bachelor's degree at a college or university)
- Students eligible to receive a Pell Grant
- Students who have participated in a full-time service year such as through an AmeriCorps program
- Students who have or are honorably serving in the armed forces of the United States
- Students attending participating schools that apply during Virginia College Application Week
